Project Lifesaver Training

David Rittenhouse of Wander Location Consulting  was the first Certified Project Lifesaver Electronic Search Specialist and trainer in British Columbia. Comphrensive training and certification is available to law enforcement and search and rescue professionals. Wander Location Consulting facilitates full training in the use of the equipment, search techniques as well as insight into the behaviours of those who tend to wander. What is Project Lifesaver?
Project Lifesaver is a complete training and certification program for first responders, law enforcement and search and rescue, which uses training, technology and education to address the issue of wandering. People with Alzheimer’s disease, Autism, Down’s syndrome, or related dementia and their caregivers benefit from bringing this program to communities. This ten-year-old program has proven to not only save lives, but also to enable those conducting the search to save time, money and staffing. Each search can cost as much as $1500 USD per hour and run as much as $200,000 USD (Source: U.S. National Sheriff’s Association). The increasing number of searches that are required due to wandering puts a great deal of pressure on already tight budgets.
